County fairQueensOne weekend

This is a proper county agricultural fair - the kind with prize-ribbon vegetables, livestock judging and a pie competition - staged on the oldest continuously farmed land in the state, which happens to be in Queens. It is the one weekend of the year the farm runs at full fair scale, with competitions, demonstrations and food across the grounds. If you have never been to an agricultural fair and assumed you would have to leave the state, this is a bus ride from the subway.

What to expect

Show rings, competition tents, craft and food stalls spread across the farm grounds over two days from mid-morning to late afternoon. Livestock are on display and being judged. Expect farm ground underfoot and a family-heavy crowd.

Good to know

  • Take the E or F to Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike then the Q46 bus to Little Neck Parkway
  • Two days only, and the middle of the afternoon is the busiest stretch
  • Bring cash for stalls and competition entries
  • Wear shoes for grass and gravel rather than pavement
  • Grounds are mostly flat and manageable with a stroller
  • Excellent with children who want to be near animals

Common questions

What actually happens at the fair?

The traditional county-fair programme: livestock showing and judging, produce and baking competitions, demonstrations, craft stalls and food, spread across the farm grounds.

How long does it run?

Two days, Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4, 2026, from 10am to 5pm each day.

Is it suitable for small children?

Very. The animals, the show rings and the open ground make it one of the better family days in Queens, and the paths are stroller-manageable.
