Anime NYC fills the Javits Center with an Artist Alley, a Japanese food court, a gaming hall and more than 150 hours of panels, and Sunday is the day you can still get in - the Saturday badge sold out. The closing day is the friendliest one: shorter hours, a calmer floor, and a new Family Zone presented by Scholastic with a kids badge for ages 6 to 12, under-fives free. If you want the cosplay spectacle without the crush, take Sunday.
What to expect
A convention floor packed with publishers, importers and hundreds of independent artists, plus Destination Cosplay, gaming halls and panel rooms running back to back. The exhibit hall and Artist Alley close at the same time as the show, so shopping is front-loaded and the best merchandise thins out through the day. Expect long queues for autographs and popular panels.
Good to know
- The 7 train to 34th Street-Hudson Yards puts you a short walk from the Javits Center; the A, C and E at 34th Street-Penn Station is the fallback.
- Badges must be picked up on site if bought close to the show, so budget time for the registration line before the floor opens.
- Physical badges are required for entry - a QR code on your phone will not get you in, and lost badges are not replaced.
- Kids badges are not mailed and must be collected on site with proof of age.
- Closing day is shorter than the others, so hit the Artist Alley first and panels second if you want both.
- Bring a foldable tote: Artist Alley prints, doujinshi and figures add up fast and the hall has limited bag drop.

Common questions
Can I still buy a badge for Sunday?
Sunday single-day and Sunday Kids badges were both still listed as available on the Anime NYC ticket page when we checked, while the Saturday badge showed sold out. Buy online before you travel rather than assuming walk-up inventory.
Is it worth bringing children?
This is the first year with a Family Zone presented by Scholastic, and there is a dedicated Sunday badge for ages 6 to 12 with under-fives free. Sunday's shorter hours and thinner crowd make it the most manageable day with kids.
Do I need a costume?
Not at all. Plenty of attendees come in street clothes, and Destination Cosplay is as much a spectator draw as a participatory one. If you do dress up, check the convention's prop and costume policies first.
