Sheepshead Bay's residential grid off Voorhies Avenue is a few blocks from the fishing boats and the bay itself, and Ford Street's annual party is one of the fixtures of its summer. The format is unchanged from decades of New York block parties: barricades, grills, folding tables, a sound system and everyone out of the house until dark. Free, annual and entirely run by the block.

What to expect

Expect the street closed at both ends, food and tables along the kerb, games for children in the roadway and music through the evening. The Sheepshead Bay waterfront and its fish restaurants are a short walk south. It is a public street, so walking through is fine.
