Before Green-Wood was a cemetery it was high ground, and on August 27, 1776 much of the largest battle of the Revolutionary War was fought across it. This trolley tour, part of the cemetery's Brooklyn 250 programming, rides those slopes and stops at the sites that shaped the day, with guides connecting the terrain to the people who fought over it. What to expect
Check in at the trolley by the Gothic Arch near the main entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street, where you are marked off by name rather than by printed ticket. The trolley climbs Green-Wood's hills with guides narrating the battle, stopping at key sites where passengers are encouraged to get out and look.
