Rene Laloux made Fantastic Planet, and Gandahar is his final feature, an 83-minute hallucination of mutants and mirrored cities designed by the comics artist Caza. Janus Films is putting it back in cinemas and IFC Center starts its run on August 28, so this is opening weekend for a film most people have only seen in stills. If you like animation that looks like nothing else, book it before the run thins out.
