Domino Park is built on the bones of the Domino Sugar refinery, with the old syrup tanks and gantry cranes preserved right where they stood, and its Flex Field turns into an outdoor dance floor for a free class led by a real neighborhood studio. Dance cardio outdoors at ten in the morning with the East River on one side and the Williamsburg Bridge overhead beats any windowless studio. No registration, no fee, no experience needed - show up in sneakers.
What to expect
An hour-long instructor-led class on the park's turf field, open to all levels and scalable if you cannot keep up. Expect a mixed group of regulars and drop-ins with the waterfront and skyline behind the instructor. Bring your own water and a towel.
Good to know
- The L to Bedford Avenue or the ferry to South Williamsburg both work
- Wear sneakers - the class runs on turf, not on a studio floor
- Bring water and a towel; there is nothing provided
- All levels are welcome and you can scale the movements down
- Domino Park's preserved refinery equipment is worth walking after class
- Smorgasburg is a short walk up the waterfront afterwards
