This is the biggest free day in Harlem all year: three stages running jazz, R&B, gospel, reggae, soca and Latin sets while 135th Street disappears under food carts and artisan tables. The theme is "Honoring Our Legacy," and the bill mixes Broadway cast performances on Harlem Broadway Row with international acts and Sundae Sermon's outdoor dance party. What to expect
Expect a densely packed street fair stretching for blocks, with stage programming running continuously and crowds thickest in the mid-afternoon. Vendors sell everything from jerk chicken and Senegalese plates to jewelry, hats and sculpture, and the Harlem Health Village offers free screenings. Broadway performers, DJs and community groups rotate through the stages until early evening.
