The lawn north of the Picnic House is one of Prospect Park's most usable pockets — flat, close to a park entrance, and just far enough from the Long Meadow's main sprawl that a group can actually hold a session there. An after-school sports block turns it into the neighborhood's outdoor gym for a couple of hours at the end of the day. If your kid needs to run and you'd rather it happened outside on grass than in a rec room, this is the Brooklyn version.
What to expect
Coached games and drills on the lawn, with kids in rotation and the Picnic House building behind them. The Long Meadow's usual late-afternoon traffic — dogs, joggers, picnic groups — carries on around it. The lawn is open grass with tree cover along the western edge and paths on all sides.
