If you've ever wanted to learn Catan or just find people to play with, Bryant Park's social hands you a board and a table for free in the middle of Midtown. New players get walked through the rules; veterans can settle in for competitive rounds of sheep-trading and road-building. It's a friendly, low-pressure way to meet people and enjoy one of Manhattan's prettiest public spaces. Show up solo or with friends and claim a seat at a table.

What to expect

Expect provided Catan sets in the park's games corner, with hosts often available to teach newcomers and balance tables. Games are casual and welcoming, so you can join a group on the spot rather than needing to bring your own crew.
