Story Warz with Big Jay Oakerson and Luis J. Gomez

Comics tell stories and the audience guesses which ones are lies — Oakerson and Gomez host the deception game.

Story Warz takes the oldest bar game — is this person lying to me — and hands it to comics who are professionally good at lying, with Big Jay Oakerson and Luis J. Gomez refereeing. The guest list has run through Shane Gillis, Bert Kreischer, Howie Mandel and Chris Distefano, so even a familiar comic is doing something you haven't seen them do. Comedy with actual stakes, not a straight showcase.

What to expect

A game-show setup with comics taking turns telling stories while the room and the hosts interrogate them for tells. The audience is loud and participatory, and the hosts push back constantly. Runs about 90 minutes with several rounds.

Good to know

  • B/D/F/M to 34th St-Herald Square or 6 to 33rd St serves the Midtown club
  • The show often sells out and moves to a waitlist — book well ahead
  • Expect a drink minimum in addition to the ticket
  • Audience participation is part of the format, but no one is dragged on stage
  • Adult material and profanity throughout
  • Guests are announced late; the surprise lineup is the draw
