Annual outings are the events that quietly hold an organization's community together — the same park, the same afternoon, year after year — and Success Counseling books Rev. T. Wendell Foster Park for its version. The park's fields and courts sit a short walk from Yankee Stadium, which makes it one of the more convenient large recreation grounds in the west Bronx. If you're connected to the organization, this is the annual date; if not, the park is open around it.

What to expect

A group gathering across a permitted section of the park with food, seating and activities through the afternoon. Everything else in the park continues as normal — basketball on the courts, ballfields in use, kids on the playground. Expect the busiest stretch in the middle of the afternoon.

Good to know

  • The 4, B or D to 161st St-Yankee Stadium is a short walk from the park
  • This is an organization's annual outing; the rest of the park remains open to the public
  • Shade is limited across much of the grounds — bring sun cover and water
  • Paths are flat and paved, so the park is manageable with a stroller or wheelchair
  • Game days at Yankee Stadium make the surrounding streets and trains far busier
