Summer Tea in Prospect Park is in its eighth year, and it uses the Boathouse the way that building deserves: yoga on the balcony above the water, a tea meditation inside, a guided walk on the trails around it. The rest of the day opens into community tea circles hosted by different cultural groups, plus a poetry-composing tree you can hang your own lines on. If your Sunday needs to be slow, green and lightly caffeinated, RSVP for this.
What to expect
Arrive at the Boathouse and choose your opening: a guided nature walk on the surrounding trails, a yoga session on the balcony, or a seated tea meditation. Later the Boathouse and the lawn around it fill with tea circles run by different communities, each pouring and explaining its own tradition, while people write poems and hang them on the composing tree.
