A showcase bill is how you see six comics for the price of one and find out which of them you are going to be following in a year. The Bell House main hall is a big black box with a proper stage and a bar behind the crowd, which is a far better room than most comedy basements. If Sunday needs a low-commitment reason to leave the house, this is the easy yes.
What to expect
You come in past the front bar into the main hall, where a handful of comics each do a short set with a host tying it together. Seating is limited and first-come, so much of the room stands. Expect newer material and a looser feel than a headline show.
Good to know
- Take the F, G or R to 4th Ave–9th St, or the R to Union St, then walk a few blocks in Gowanus.
- Lineups for showcases are announced close to the date, so check the event page before you go if a specific comic matters.
- Seating is limited and first-come; arrive early if you want a chair.
