Trail Blazers has been taking city kids outdoors since 1887, which makes it older than most of the parks it uses — and its Brooklyn day camp works out of the Carousel Lawn, beside Prospect Park's restored 1912 carousel and the Lefferts Historic House. The organization's line is that there's no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothes, and its programming reflects that. If you want a camp whose entire premise is the outdoors, this is a 135-year-old version of it.
What to expect
