WayV are the China-based arm of NCT, and they are playing a free stage at Rumsey Playfield rather than an arena — Mandarin-language pop that folds hip-hop and dance beats around R&B-styled vocals. Sharing the bill is THE EITHER, a New York band running electrified traditional Chinese instruments and opera-inspired singing through progressive rock, plus Chopstix. If you have ever wanted to see a K-pop group without a ticketing war, this is the one.
What to expect
Doors open an hour before music and the queue along the Fifth Avenue path builds long before that. Inside, Rumsey Playfield is a flat standing-room bowl with food and drink vendors along the fence and a members' lane that skips the line. Expect lightsticks, fan chants and a crowd that came to sing along in Mandarin.

- Enter mid-park from Fifth Avenue near 69th Street; the 6 to 68th Street and the B/C to 72nd Street are the closest trains.
