Acid Bath were a cult Louisiana sludge band who broke up in 1997 and spent nearly three decades as one of heavy music's great what-ifs, so any billing with their name on it draws people from several states. Putting them on a rooftop with Florida death-metal institution Obituary and Baton Rouge's Thou is an absurd, wonderful collision of a lineup and a setting. If you want the loudest possible skyline view in New York, this is the one night to get it.
What to expect
You take elevators or stairs up five levels to an open-air deck with the stage set against the river and the Brooklyn Bridge behind the crowd. Bars run along the back of the deck and sightlines are good from almost anywhere on the floor. The show is outdoors and goes ahead rain or shine, wrapping by late evening.
