Dizzy's Club is the only jazz room in the city where the backdrop behind the band is Central Park through floor-to-ceiling glass, and a Cole Porter songbook is exactly what that room was built for. Callaway is a Tony nominee with the instincts of a cabaret storyteller and the phrasing of a jazz singer, backed here by Martin Wind and Tim Horner. If you have never been up to Dizzy's, this is the weekend's best excuse.
What to expect
A fifth-floor club with cabaret tables facing a bandstand backed by windows onto Columbus Circle and the park. Two sets a night, with the earlier one drawing the dinner crowd. Callaway threads the songs together with stories about Porter, and the room is close enough that she works it conversationally rather than through a wall of amplification.

- Take the A/B/C/D or 1 to 59th Street-Columbus Circle; the club is upstairs inside the Time Warner Center complex.
- Ask about window-side tables when booking, since the park view is a large part of what you are paying for.
