Rev. T. Wendell Foster Park is a workhorse — courts, fields and a rec center packed with the neighborhood on any summer day — and that kind of use takes maintenance most people never see. A Bronx is Blooming youth crew spends the morning here on planting, clearing and general care, tools in hand. If you want a version of the Bronx that isn't the stadium three blocks away, this is a park doing its actual job with people looking after it.
What to expect
A supervised crew working a section of the grounds, likely around the planted edges and lawn areas rather than the courts themselves. The rest of the park runs as usual — basketball, ballfields, kids on the playground — and there is nothing closed off. The session starts early and wraps before the worst of the afternoon heat.
