This is the oldest and biggest Oktoberfest in the region, two hours up the mountain from the basin, and it has been running since 1970. The bands come over from Germany, the biers are the ones poured at the festivals there, and the whole thing happens in a convention hall at 6,750 feet with the pines outside. If the brewery Oktoberfests down in the city feel small, this is the full-scale version.
What to expect
An indoor bier hall with a German band on the main stage and an American band outdoors, family-style shared tables, German food counters, contests through the afternoon, and a crowd in dirndls and lederhosen. Saturdays add an After Dark stretch from 7:30 p.m. Sundays are the quieter family session, noon to 6 p.m.

- Saturday entry uses arrival time slots, either 1 p.m. or 4 p.m., so pick one when you buy.
- Sundays are Family Day and children 12 and under get in free.
- A complimentary shuttle runs Friday and Saturday, with a take-home shuttle from 8 to 11 p.m.
- Preferred Seating is family style and seats are guaranteed but not assigned.
- The drive from Los Angeles is roughly two hours each way, so plan for mountain traffic or stay over.
