Stumblday is a directory of what is on in New York City this weekend, ranked. It lists events and links each one to its organizer's or venue's own page; it does not host events, sell tickets or take bookings.

The main board covers Friday through Sunday (through Monday on a holiday weekend), and the same events are cut into pages by borough, category, time slot, month and dated weekend, so a specific question — free things to do in Brooklyn on Saturday night — has a specific page with its own ranked list.
Every listing carries the date, the venue, the price and a link to the official page. Stumblday is the index, not the venue: tickets, RSVPs and cancellations happen on the organizer's page, and that page is the source of truth if the two ever disagree.

Events come from organizer and venue pages, city and parks calendars, operator schedules for multi-week series, and organizer submissions through the submit form. Sources are read only where their terms and robots rules allow it. NYC Parks' public-programming feed is used to confirm which park events are free.
A new board is built every week for the coming weekend, and boards for the next few weekends are published ahead of time; each is re-ranked every week until its weekend arrives. Ingest is idempotent: an event its organizer retitles keeps its first URL, and the same event on the same dates is one listing, not two.
Ranking is two passes. A pairwise tournament ranks the top of the board — events compared two at a time, with a prior from what readers on the site actually opened — and the head of the list is then re-ranked by hand. A multi-session series holds one slot at the top rather than several, so a tournament with ten sessions is one card, not ten.
Every weekend board page shows the date it was last checked (the Checked badge), and sends that date as its Last-Modified time; a month page pools several boards, so it carries no Checked badge, only the Last-Modified time. When the newest published board is more than nine days behind the current weekend, the home board says which weekend it is showing instead of calling it this weekend's.
Free means free. A pick is marked free only when its source states it — a price is never assumed — and a ticketed event carries the stated price with a link to where it is sold.
Images run in three lanes: organizer-supplied or licensed stock; openly licensed photographs (public domain or Creative Commons, credited on the event page); or an illustrative placeholder generated by Stumblday when no cleared image exists. An image whose rights are unclear is not shown.
Counts are literal: a page that says 118 picks lists 118 events, all of them in the page itself. A borough, category or time-slot page stands on its own only when it has enough events — at least three for a category or borough guide, six for a weekend time slot or a free-by-borough page — and below that it is not indexed (a time-slot page below six is not published at all).
