Prospect Park

Prospect Park is Brooklyn's backyard — the Olmsted and Vaux landscape whose Long Meadow is nearly a mile of unbroken grass, the longest in any U.S. urban park, running down to a 60-acre lake, the borough's only freshwater one. Free concerts fill the Lena Horne Bandshell in summer, Smorgasburg sets up on Breeze Hill every Sunday from April through October, the Greenmarket runs Wednesdays at Bartel-Pritchard Square, and the LeFrak Center, the Boathouse, the Parade Ground's forty acres of fields and the Zoo anchor a weekend of walks, runs, birding and nature programs run with the Prospect Park Alliance.
