Governors Island

Governors Island is a 172 acre island in New York Harbor, about 800 yards from Lower Manhattan. Trust-operated ferries leave from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street, running every 30 minutes, with service every 15 minutes during peak travel hours on weekends (10AM-6PM). Seasonal Brooklyn service from Brooklyn Bridge Park/Pier 6 and Red Hook/Atlantic Basin runs weekends and holidays from May 23 to November 1, 2026. The fare table lists $5 for adults, all tickets are round trip, and all passengers ride free on Saturdays and Sundays before 11am. The Island is open daily year-round; from Labor Day through Memorial Day it is open 7AM-6PM. No personal vehicles are allowed, and there is no surcharge for bikes.
