Bartel-Pritchard Square is the underrated Prospect Park entrance — a circle marked by two granite columns modeled on a Greek original, with Windsor Terrace on one side and the park on the other — and its Greenmarket serves the people who actually live there. It is smaller than Grand Army Plaza and considerably calmer, which is the point. Grab produce, then walk straight into the park's southern end or catch a film at the Pavilion across the circle.
What to expect
Expect a modest row of farm stands on the paved lot beside the circle, with seasonal produce, bread, eggs and cut flowers, and a neighborhood crowd shopping with carts. Lines are short compared with Brooklyn's bigger markets. The park's Prospect Park West entrance and the loop road are a few steps away for a walk afterward.
