For thirty years Brooklyn Botanic Garden has run a contest for the greenest block in the borough, and this exhibition rebuilds the winning stoops and streetscapes on the Garden's own grounds, co-created with the residents who planted them. It is the rare garden show about ordinary people's front steps rather than a curated collection, which makes it unexpectedly moving and genuinely useful if you have a stoop of your own. It closes October 25, so October is the last chance.
What to expect
Re-created stoop and streetscape displays sited on the Garden's grounds, built with the gardeners who made the originals, plus interpretation about how the contest has shaped Brooklyn blocks. It is a walk-through outdoor display included with admission.
