The Bronx Zoo has given Giraffe Corner over to Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, a world-premiere walk-through build of the PBS Kids show pitched squarely at three-to-seven-year-olds. Daniel and Katerina Kittycat perform a twelve-minute habitat set four times a day and hold a meet-and-greet for photos, while the plaza fills with a trolley, a music wall and a dress-up corner. If you have a preschooler who knows the songs, nothing else at the zoo competes.

What to expect

Head for Giraffe Corner, where the trolley, music wall and dress-up area are open for free play between performances. The live show runs about twelve to fifteen minutes and follows Daniel and Katerina through different animal habitats, with a host-led meet-and-greet for photos later in the day. Extra activities spill over toward Grizzly Corner, and everything is included in the price of a normal zoo ticket.

Good to know

  • It's included with any Bronx Zoo ticket or membership, with no separate reservation.
  • Giraffe Corner is the base; additional activity stations run toward Grizzly Corner.
  • Best suited to preschool and early-elementary kids who already know the show.
  • The meet-and-greet line is the busiest part of the visit, so plan it first or last.
  • The zoo is large and hilly; a stroller or the Zoo Shuttle saves a lot of walking.
  • The Bx9 and Bx19 buses and the Asia Gate lot are the easiest approaches by bus or car.

Common questions

Does Daniel Tiger cost extra at the Bronx Zoo?

No. It's included with a standard Bronx Zoo ticket or membership, so there is no add-on ticket for the show or the activities.

How long is the live performance?

About twelve to fifteen minutes, and it repeats several times a day, so a nap or a slow start doesn't cost you the whole thing.

Can kids actually meet Daniel Tiger?

Yes. A hosted meet-and-greet runs each afternoon where families can take photos with Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat.
