The judging panel alone justifies the trip: Big Boi of Outkast, a Brooklyn pup-fluencer named Lumi, and Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione, scoring matching curls, coordinated outfits and identical facial expressions. First prize is a year of Dogfish Head beer, a year of dog treats, three nights at the Dogfish INN and a travel stipend — absurd stakes for a courtyard contest. Sign-ups happen onsite and close fast.
What to expect
Registration opens at 5pm in the courtyard and slams shut just before six, so arrive with your dog and a costume plan. Between rounds there are giveaways, photo setups and dog-friendly activities, plus craft beers and cocktails for anyone over 21. Judging runs on resemblance and showmanship, which means the crowd reaction genuinely matters.
