This is the show that made Miranda before Hamilton did, and it is a genuinely different animal: looser, hotter, more interested in a block than in a founding father. City Center's Mainstage puts the orchestra where you can see it, and the ensemble dancing in numbers like 'The Club' reads better in that room than it does in a proscenium house. If you know the movie but never saw it on stage, this is the version to fix that with.
What to expect
A full-length two-act musical, about two and a half hours with intermission, on the City Center Mainstage. Expect a large ensemble, a visible band, and choreography that fills the stage. An ASL-interpreted performance and a community night are part of the run.
