JPL opens its campus to the public for two days, and this open house marks the lab's 90th anniversary. Visitors can see the Space Flight Operations Facility, a National Historic Landmark, plus the Spacecraft Assembly Facility and full-scale models of Perseverance, Voyager and Galileo. It is on the board to flag a weekend landmark, but JPL says every free ticket was distributed on Aug. 29.

What to expect

Four themed areas: Missions That Changed the World, Moon to Mars, In Flight, and Makerspace. Entry is by timed ticket only, and guests are not admitted before the time printed on their ticket.

Good to know

  • All tickets were distributed on Aug. 29; tickets are named and cannot be transferred or sold.
  • Anyone 18 or over must show government-issued ID.
  • No bags or backpacks except small purses and diaper bags.
  • Children under 2 do not need a ticket. Parking is free, and vehicles are subject to inspection.
