About
A free Getty day brings mariachi, folklórico, storytelling and hands-on art to the Center.
This Getty family day connects Mexican photography and Los Angeles history with all-female mariachi, regional folklorico, Afro-Latin music, bilingual storytelling, and hands-on art. The mix of performances and make-and-take workshops lets families alternate between watching and creating instead of keeping children seated for a full program.
What to expect
Reserve timed entry before you go, then start in the Museum Courtyard, where performances run from the 10am DJ through the final El Santo Golpe set. Families who want hands-on time can move between the rotulo, loteria-hat, and printmaking workshops, while bilingual storytelling takes place in the Upper Garden. You can drop in at any point between 10am and 5pm, but arriving before lunch gives you the broadest choice of music, stories, and workshops.
