This is the biggest Bastille Day party in America: five blocks of Madison Avenue transformed into a French village with crêpes and macarons by the tens of thousands, live music, and a vintage Citroën rally parked on 60th Street. The 2026 theme celebrates 250 years of French-American creativity, and a new Carnaval des Animaux brings a pet-parade twist. Go hungry, browse the artisan booths, then carry the party to the free evening concert in Central Park.

What to expect

A packed daytime street fête — tasting booths from French restaurants and patisseries, wine and cheese pavilions, arts-and-crafts and dance workshops, and performers working the crowd along five car-free blocks. Classic French cars line the side street while brass bands and DJs keep it loud. Peak crowds hit early afternoon.

Good to know

  • Entry to the street festival is free; tasting passes and some experiences are ticketed separately
  • Take the N/R/W to Fifth Ave-59th St or the 4/5/6 to 59th St and walk a block west
  • Come hungry — the food booths are the main event, and lines at favorites build fast
  • New this year: Carnaval des Animaux, so expect (and bring) well-behaved dogs
  • The party continues afterward with the free Bastille Day concert in Central Park
