About
Trumpeter Gabriel Wade leads a five-piece band for one night at Jazz Showcase.
Gabriel Wade arrives with a proper quintet and a résumé that includes work with the Count Basie and Cab Calloway orchestras, plus recognition in major trumpet competitions. The one-night booking offers a useful chance to hear a young bandleader in one of the South Loop’s defining jazz rooms.
What to expect
Set aside the full 8-to-11 PM window for an evening led by Wade’s trumpet. Alto and tenor saxophone, piano, bass and drums complete the quintet, giving the band enough range for both arranged passages and improvisation.
