St. Charles has held Scarecrow Weekend for 41 years, and downtown fills with more than 120 handmade scarecrows that visitors vote on. There's a Family Zone, an Activity Zone with photo ops and live music on the 1st Street Plaza. It makes a good fall day trip on the Fox River.
