A free weekly satire revue at the Green Mill is one of the odder standing fixtures in Chicago performance: seven or eight writers and comics reading fresh pieces on the week's news, plus midshow tunes and a closing musical act, in the jazz room where Al Capone's crowd drank. It starts at 3 PM, which makes it the rare thing you can do on a Saturday afternoon and still have the evening. The show posts each week's lineup in advance.
What to expect
About two hours in a narrow art-deco lounge with table seating and a small stage. The published lineups run roughly seven performers reading or performing short pieces, with a midshow musician and a headlining band or singer to close.
