Things to Do at Whitney Museum of American Art
The Whitney Museum of American Art sits at 99 Gansevoort Street in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, near the Hudson River Greenway and the West Side Highway. It presents the full range of twentieth-century and contemporary American art across eight floors, with a special focus on works by living artists. The A, C, E, and L trains stop about six blocks away at 14th Street and 8th Avenue. Adult admission is $30, seniors and students $24, and visitors 25 and under are free every day. On a weekend the museum runs 10:30 am to 6 pm both days; Friday evenings from 5 to 10 pm and the second Sunday of every month are free for everyone. A ticket is still required when admission is free.
