ABT spends its summers on full-length story ballets at the opera house, so a fall bill of short works is the rarer thing: Kylián, Ashton and Makarova back to back, danced by principals you usually only see in Swan Lake. Two of the pieces have never been performed by this company at all. If you want to see what these dancers can do outside a tutu and a plot, this fortnight is the window.
What to expect
Evening curtains at 7:30 with weekend matinees, the ABT Orchestra in the pit, and casting sheets posted in the lobby. Programs rotate every few nights, so check which one you are buying. The closing night of The Dream includes a costume contest held during intermission.
