For ten days the food-media world has a physical clubhouse in Meatpacking, and it is open to anyone who walks in. That means cookbook authors signing at a table rather than behind a lectern, podcasts recorded in front of a room, a rotating cafe of some of the better small food businesses in the city, and a shop with things you cannot get elsewhere. Friday is the last day of the run, so it is now or wait for whenever Cherry Bombe does it again.
What to expect
A three-floor pop-up that behaves like a cross between a shop, a cafe and a live-events venue, with a different programming lineup each day. Expect to browse and graze rather than sit down to a meal, a crowd heavy on food-industry regulars, and a schedule where the marquee signings and tapings draw the queues.
Good to know
- 412 West 14th Street is a short walk from the 14th Street-Eighth Avenue A/C/E/L station
- Walk-ins are welcome for the house itself; the ticketed dinners and select events need advance reservations
- Check the daily programming schedule before you go - the lineup changes and the signings are the draw
- The cafe is small-plate and pastry-scale, so treat it as a stop rather than lunch
- The final day tends to be the busiest of a run like this, so arrive early in the opening hours
- The space is three floors; ask at the door about elevator access if stairs are a problem
