Lana Lagomarsini cooked at Gramercy Tavern, Momofuku Ko and Blue Hill at Stone Barns before Top Chef made her a name, and Creola is the tiny Park Avenue room where she finally cooks only for herself. The five-course menu reads the Black diaspora widely, from a potlikker consomme to oxtail pate en croute under a turmeric crust. Fourteen seats and a September 9 debut make this its first full weekend.

What to expect

A 300-square-foot dining room with 14 seats across five tables, designed by Lagomarsini herself in golds, bronzes and blues, running two seatings a night. The $125 five-course tasting rotates with the season and runs to dishes like scallop with beurre blanc, quail, and a passionfruit tiramisu. A wine pairing adds $65.
