Wave Hill is the most beautiful place in the Bronx and one of the least crowded good things in New York, and the Family Art Project is the reason to bring children rather than leave them behind. Sundials before the equinox is the kind of gentle, actually-educational craft that survives the car ride home. It is drop-in, so arrive when you arrive.
What to expect
A drop-in art table staffed by Wave Hill educators, with materials provided and no fixed start time inside the three-hour window. Expect a mixed-age crowd of families, a project that takes twenty to forty minutes to complete, and the expectation that you will spend the rest of the visit in the gardens rather than the workshop.
