Industry City is six million square feet of former Bushwick Terminal warehouse now packed with food halls, distilleries, bakeries and makers, and the honest problem with visiting is that you have no idea where to start. The tour solves that by walking you through several vendors with tastings at each while explaining how a shipping complex became this. If you have driven past the Sunset Park waterfront wondering what is inside those buildings, three hours and a guide is the efficient answer.

What to expect

A guide leads a small group through the complex's courtyards and food halls, stopping at several vendors for tastings along the way. Between stops you get the site's history as a Brooklyn shipping and manufacturing hub and the story of its conversion. Roughly three hours, ending with enough food that dinner afterwards is optional.

Good to know

  • The D/N/R to 36th Street is a short walk to the complex
  • Ticketed in advance with limited group size
  • Three hours mostly on foot, indoors and through outdoor courtyards
  • Come hungry — the tastings add up to a meal
  • Tell the organiser about dietary restrictions when booking
  • The complex's shops and courtyards are worth time before or after the tour
