JAPAN Fes usually runs as a daytime street fair, but the Long Island City edition stays open until 10pm, turning 46th Avenue into an open-air Japanese night market near the Hunters Point waterfront. Eighteen vendors grill yakitori and flip takoyaki as the evening crowd rolls in off Vernon Boulevard. Entry is free, so you can graze stall to stall and make a whole night of it.
What to expect
A block of street-food stalls cooking to order: takoyaki, yakitori skewers, karaage, gyoza, okonomiyaki, and katsu sando, plus kakigori shaved ice, mochi, and matcha drinks. It's a graze-as-you-go format — most items run in the $8–15 range at past editions — and the evening hours give it more of a Japanese summer-matsuri feel than the usual midday fair.

- Entry is free; each of the 18 vendors sets its own prices, and lines for the popular stalls get long at dinnertime.
- It runs 2–10pm — going after 7pm gets you the night-market atmosphere, but some vendors can sell out late.
- The site at 5-25 46th Ave is about a 5-minute walk from the Vernon Blvd–Jackson Ave 7 stop and close to the G at 21st St.
