Todrick Hall has been building this one for years - two London engagements, and now a New York premiere he wrote, scored, directed and stars in. MIDNIGHT is sung through end to end: twelve interconnected lives in the 19th-century American South, six Black and six white, carried by a score that runs from gospel to opera. The first two previews land on this weekend, and both are already sold out.
What to expect
Two and a half hours with one intermission at the Daryl Roth Theatre, just off Union Square. The score moves quickly between gospel, R&B, rock, folk and opera, with Hall performing alongside an eleven-strong ensemble. These are previews, so expect a production still being tuned in front of an audience two weeks ahead of its official opening.

- Both weekend performances are marked SOLD OUT on the show's own calendar; the first date you can actually buy is Tuesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m.
- Curtain times are not published for the two sold-out dates. The house standard is 7:30 p.m. evenings and 2:00 p.m. matinees.
