It is a free movie on a plaza framed by Calatrava's white ribs, which is an absurd amount of architecture for a screening that costs nothing. The Addams Family at thirty-five turns out to be the rare early-nineties studio comedy that has aged into something closer to a design object - Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia playing a genuinely happy marriage in a gothic pile. It is also the last of the series, so there is no catching it later in the run.

What to expect

An outdoor screen on the paved plaza just north of the Oculus, with seating set out an hour before showtime and filled first-come. Expect a mixed downtown crowd of office workers, tourists and families, ambient street noise from Fulton Street, and a quick exit into one of the best-connected transit hubs in the city.

Good to know

  • The North Oculus Plaza is outside on Fulton Street between Church and Greenwich, not inside the Oculus itself
  • The World Trade Center hub connects to the E, A/C, 1, R/W, 2/3, 4/5 and PATH, so almost any line gets you there
  • RSVP in advance if you can - walk-ups are welcome but seating goes first to those who registered
  • There is no rain date; check the World Trade Center events page the day before if the forecast turns
  • Food is inside the Oculus mall and the surrounding blocks; nothing is sold on the plaza
  • This is the final screening of the Oculus Outdoors season
