The PuppetMobile is one of the last true touring marionette companies in the city, and this production was built from scratch: marionettes hand-crafted by Kevin White, original songs by Daryl Kojak, a script by Julia Darden, direction by Bruce Cannon. Turning Geppetto into a kid inventor and Pinocchio into his robot is smarter than most children's theatre attempts. The best free thing in the borough.
What to expect
An outdoor playground set-up with a portable stage, an hour-long show with live marionette work and original songs, and a crowd of neighborhood families sitting on whatever they brought. Because it is a park show, the sound competes with the playground, so being near the front matters more than usual.
