Rockefeller Center's rink level has been turned into something you feel before you can parse it, which is exactly the point of a show whose tagline is feel first, understand later. reSOUND runs eight stages and seventeen commissions across immersive sound, lighting sculpture, textile and paint, from Shoplifter's fibre work to a tactile orchestra you play by touch. It closes October 18.
What to expect
You take the stairs down from Fifth Avenue into a labyrinth where the daylight stops and sound, light and touch replace screens. Reckon on 30 to 60 minutes moving at your own pace across the eight stages. Tickets include the Art Shop, and cocktail or mocktail tasting flights can be added on.
Good to know
- Open daily 11am-7pm with last entry at 6:30pm, so arrive by 6 to be safe.
- The entrance is at 610 5th Avenue, rink level, beneath Rockefeller Center.
- Allow 30 to 60 minutes. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
- The kids-go-free promotion ran only through Labor Day and does not apply this weekend.
