Poupay shoots the city with direct flash and hot color, and for one evening she turns that eye on whoever walks up to the instax pop-up outside ICP's Essex Street home, so you leave with a print rather than a camera roll. Inside, the Model 11 analog photobooth and two shows, Yves Saint Laurent and Photography plus Photobooks USA 2000-25, stay open past closing. If you want a museum night that ends with a physical photograph of yourself, this is the one.

What to expect

A two-part evening: an outdoor portrait studio on the sidewalk where Poupay poses and shoots you on Fujifilm instax, and the galleries upstairs open late for the YSL and photobook exhibitions. The cafe pours tea and beer, the analog photobooth runs on its own line, and nearby Lower East Side bars extend drink specials to ticket holders.

Good to know

  • ICP is at 79 Essex Street inside Essex Crossing; F/M/J/Z to Delancey-Essex
  • Late Night admission is heavily discounted compared with a standard museum ticket
  • The instax pop-up is outdoors on the street side, so it runs rain or shine but shifts under cover in weather
  • Two exhibitions are included: Yves Saint Laurent and Photography, and Photobooks USA 2000-25
  • The analog photobooth and the portrait studio each form their own queue; do one while waiting for the other
  • Somm Time and other neighborhood spots run drink specials for ICP Late Night guests
