BAM brought back the strangest programming idea it has had in years: an entire series about sweat on screen. Farihah Zaman's eleven-film run reads perspiration as the giveaway — what a body admits when the dialogue will not — and the picks swing from Mati Diop's ghost-haunted Dakar to De Palma at his sleaziest to a 35mm ONIBABA. It is the rare rep series with a thesis you can feel in the room.
What to expect
Eleven titles across a week, of which ten screenings land between Friday and Sunday in BAM Rose Cinemas inside the Peter Jay Sharp Building. Formats are mostly DCP, with ONIBABA screening from a 35mm print on Saturday at 4:15. Each film plays twice across the run, so a title you miss this weekend usually returns Monday through Thursday.
