More than 7,000 hand-carved jack o'lanterns light up an 18th-century manor, dinosaurs and a pumpkin carousel included — an easy train ride up
Walk an 18th-century Hudson River estate after dark while more than 7,000 carved pumpkins glow in formation — life-sized dinosaurs, a Pumpkin Planetarium and a working carousel, all built from gourds by Historic Hudson Valley's artisans. The 2026 path is longer, with new movie-monster and storybook scenes. If you do one Halloween-season trip out of the city, this is the one that runs every night of October and sits right off the Hudson Line.
What to expect
You enter at a timed slot and follow a lantern-lit path through the manor grounds, passing themed displays set to music and lights. A courtyard snack stand and gift shop sit along the route, and VIP add-ons include the Gourd & Goblet Tavern and the Headless Horseman's Hideaway.
Good to know
- Getting there: Metro-North Hudson Line from Grand Central to Croton-Harmon, roughly an hour; the organizer publishes a walking map from the station to the manor
- Tickets are sold in advance only — nothing is sold at the gate, and Columbus Day weekend slots go first.
- FLEX tickets let you show up any open evening without picking a time slot, even when a night is sold out.
- Recommended for all ages; children 2 and under do not need a ticket.
- The path is outdoors after dark in October, so bring a warm layer and comfortable shoes.
- Check the last southbound train back to Grand Central before choosing a late entry slot.
