Olalekan Jeyifous and AD—WO built four works from the garden's own materials: kiln-fired glass Serpentine Specter in the Native Flora Garden, Earthen Tiles made with excavated BBG soil, moss-growing Animist Capsules, and Sonic Strands of cowrie shells and sea beans that sound when wind or visitors move them. Several of the pieces are designed to shift and weather as the season goes on. If you like art you find on a walk rather than in a white room, catch it before it closes late in October.
What to expect
You come across the installations while walking the Native Flora and Woodland gardens rather than in a gallery. Some pieces respond to wind and touch, and moss and lichen growth mean late-season visits look different from spring.
Good to know
- The 2, 3, 4 and 5 to Eastern Pkwy–Brooklyn Museum or the B and Q to Prospect Park are closest.
- The installations are included with regular garden admission.
- The Woodland Garden paths can be uneven; wear comfortable shoes.
- Pair it with fall color elsewhere in the garden.
