More than 600 original hand-drawn manga pages are on the walls, the actual ink for ONE PIECE, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Inuyasha and Ooku, which US audiences almost never get to see. Organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, it treats manga as fine art and traces its social impact. If you are in town for Comic Con, this is the museum show made for you.
What to expect
The show fills the first-floor Great Hall galleries with original pages, grouped by artist and series, so you can see pencil lines, corrections and screentone up close. A companion installation, Manga Before Manga, shows centuries-old Japanese narrative art from the museum's collection.
