Henrot — who won the Silver Lion at the 2013 Venice Biennale for Grosse Fatigue and holds work at MoMA, the Guggenheim and the Centre Pompidou — took her forms from a deliberately scrambled set of sources: Saul Steinberg drawings, Tex Avery cartoons, Egyptian sculpture and the postures of dog-show competition. The dogs stand in for domesticated life, and the leashes make the show's real subject plain: attachment, dependency and the etiquette that shapes what a young life is allowed to imagine. I
What to expect
A cluster of weatherproof sculptures at the park's southeast entrance, sized and sited so you move among them rather than view them from a rope line. The plaza is a busy pedestrian crossroads, so the work is encountered mid-stride, alongside carriage horses, the Pulitzer Fountain and the flow into the park.

- Free, outdoors and never closed — you can see it any time the plaza is accessible.
- It sits at the 60th Street and Fifth Avenue entrance to Central Park, at Doris C. Freedman Plaza.
- Nearest trains: the N/R/W to Fifth Ave–59th St and the F to 57th St.
- This is a very long run, so there is no urgency — but early morning gives you the sculptures without the crowd.
- It pairs naturally with a walk into the park's south end or a stop at the nearby museums.
